Phillips 66 Basket Pong game

Key contributions

  • Created user flows to communicate with game developer in understanding game play & prize redemption restrictions.

  • Determined user journeys between ideal user path and use cases such as input requirements and player fraud.

  • Created client-approved version of user flows proposing game play options: one indexing toward fun versus a toward fraud-resistant experience.

  • Created wireframes on mobile and desktop that set direction for art director + copywriter partners.

Overview
Phillips 66 is a sponsor of the Big 12 Basketball Championships, and their Basket Pong promotion rewards customers with a chance to win instant prizes or sweepstakes prize of an all-expenses paid trip to the championship game.

For their second year of running the promotion, Phillips 66 asked our team to gear the experience for a younger, mobile-embracing audience to help drive more sales at the pump.

Game play starts with a physical scratch-off game card that takes the player through a text-to-win mobile component.

Objective

  • Target promotion toward younger, mobile-embracing audience

  • Help drive sales at the pump
